A friend reminded me of this statistic and it always blows my mind away: you only have about 4.5-5 hours of deep focus per day. That’s it. I recently watched a video from BigThink where the central proposition was that Your brain wasn’t built to hold this much information. I haven’t read Deep Work yet and I want to because I think Newport would account for this statistic in his formulation for an effective way of working. I think Amusing Ourselves to Death is another book I could listen for more inputs about this topic. But really, let me be aware here for a second - by stacking up books to listen to am I not inadvertently falling into that same trap again, of overestimating my focus hours?

I need to be very selective about what I am choosing to spend their time on. Every minute spent on X is a minute taken away from Y.
