Let me get to the point: this is a great album with catchy tunes, brilliant lyrics, and some great guitar. I was introduced to Greep by the song Holy Holy and I was awe struck at how brilliant the entire song was - the album art, to the lyrics, to the tunes - I felt that Greep was a rising star (yes I know he’s already been in a band) that I was too ignorant to miss in my own bubble. Progressive rock is really cool. The entire album, to me, is about an isolated male who is in his own echo chamber of biases and opinions and thinks only of himself, because he can’t help it. As one commenter put it: “this really puts you in the murks of the isolated male mind”. Holy Holy is a song about that man who asks a prostitute to do as he says so that he can feel good about himself. It’s such a funny yet dark song, and it’s brilliantly narrated by Greep.
All in all, this album taught me that music is so much more powerful than I had initially thought - Geordie was trying to convey a real story and a lesson through his music in his album. And yes - it really is the new sound - at least for me.
Definitely some of the best music I have listened to, ever.
